Robert Hackett will conduct the band on July 6, 2023. He received his B.A. in Music Education and his Credential from California State University, Northridge, and did graduate work at CSUN and at the University of California in Santa Barbara. He is currently the Music Director at Agoura High School where he is the Director of the Concert and Jazz Bands. The ensembles at Agoura HS are nationally renowned with unanimous superior ratings.
Prior to Agoura High School, Bob spent two years doubling the music program at Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California. Before that he taught in Colorado, where his bands reached the top five in state finals two years in a row. His Colorado wind ensemble was selected to the State Concert Band Festival, and the jazz program more than doubled in size.
Mr. Hackett was the Director of Bands at Moorpark High School for fifteen years, where the band program tripled in size and his bands consistently received superior ratings. Mr. Hackett was recognized in 2005 as Director of the Year in Ventura County. As a performer, Mr. Hackett plays clarinet and saxophone with the Gold Coast Wind Ensemble, the Phoenix Jazz Ensemble, and Equinox Tentet. He also leads the Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra. He is a member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), California Band Directors Association (CBDA), California Music Educators Association (CMEA), and California Teachers Association (CTA). He is an active clinician and judge in SCSBOA and in jazz festivals. Mr. Hackett also directs the Conejo Valley Community Concert and Jazz Bands. He has just completed his 34th year as an educator.
